Manchester United transfer news: Ten Hag ends Barcelona contract hopes and reveals last summer’s deal

Eric Ten Hag, Manchester United, 2022/23

Manchester United coach Eric Ten Hag spoke at the end of the summer transfer window, revealing that the club’s upcoming business is nearing completion.

The Red Devils suffered a frustrating summer in the market, losing leading targets such as Frenkie de Jong and forced to rush out deals for Casemiro and Anthony.

In the meantime, it appears that a series of deals they wanted to complete have been missed, such as the right-back and striker.

Ten Hag has suggested there will likely be one last work for Manchester United to do in a complicated 8pm window on the day of the transfer deadline against Leicester.

It’s by no means a stunning signature, but it’s a must-have: Martin Dubravka from Newcastle. He arrived after Dean Henderson’s departure on loan to Nottingham Forest.

“I think this will be the end,” Ten Hag told the media during a press conference on Wednesday.

However, it dropped a warning.

“Whenever there is a great opportunity, you have to always be on the lookout at this great club,” he said.

Wan-Bissaka’s hopes for Barcelona are over

Meanwhile, the Manchester United boss has also confirmed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka will remain at the club, ending Barcelona’s hopes of signing the right-back, who was rumored to be part of a potential swap deal involving Sergino Dest.

“Of course, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will remain in the team. So with this team, we will move from September to January at least, but we will play with this team this season,” he noted.

Therefore, Manchester United will conclude the transfer period with six new deals: Dubravka, Terrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Anthony.
