Football transfer news: Anthony, Fofana and five big deals to be completed on Tuesday

Wesley Fofana - Leicester City - Chelsea - 2022/23

The summer transfer round is in full swing with clubs running out of time to finish their work for the new season.

There are still hundreds of millions of euros about to fly before the windows close at the end of the month.

Football Transfers is looking at five of the biggest deals due to be struck on Tuesday.

Anthony to Man United

Erik Ten Hag has finally set one of his most important goals in the move to join him again at Manchester United. Ajax led a tough deal, but the terms of a €100m deal were agreed to buy Brazilian winger Anthony.

The 22-year-old was checked into Carrington for medical treatment on Monday and, assuming nothing untoward is found, should be announced as an official signature in due course.

Wesley Fofana to Chelsea

Set to move in for big money, Wesley Fofana will succeed Harry Maguire as the most expensive defender ever when he replaces Leicester for Chelsea for an initial £70m fee, with the additions expected to take a final fee of over £80m.

A young Chelsea fan, Fofana is a very welcome addition to the Blues, who lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers to Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively earlier this summer.

Martin Dubravka to Man United

Manchester United have been searching for the Bundesliga as a replacement for David de Gea, but with Kevin Trapp staying loyal to Europa League-winning Eintracht Frankfurt, it turns out that a perfect solution is on the way.

Newcastle goalkeeper Dubravka will undergo a doctor on Tuesday before completing his loan deal which includes an option to make the transfer permanent for £5m at the end of the season.

Callum Hudson-Odoi to Bayer Leverkusen

I think Bayern Munich once offered Chelsea €80m for Callum Hudson-Odoi, the young Englishman is now on his way late to the Bundesliga to complete a loan move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Chelsea have used Hudson-Odoi sparingly in recent seasons, but they clearly still believe in the winger – still only 21 – as there is no option to make the deal permanent in the contract.

Willie Polly to Nottingham Forest

Not to be outdone, Nottingham Forest are preparing to sign their 19th player in the current transfer window by acquiring Ivory Coast defender Willy Boley.

Forrest had previously turned down a €1m bid for the unlucky defender, who boycotted Wolves’ 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Sunday.
