Everton and Wolves are still in discussions over the transfer of Leander Dendoncker, Football Transfers can confirm.
The Toffees have made an initial offer of €10m (£8m) for the 27-year-old, but Wolves are waiting for more and wanting to recoup the amount they paid for the Belgium international before the transfer window closes.
They paid Anderlecht €14m in 2018 and that is closer to their assessment of a player who now has four years of experience in the Premier League.
Dendoncker has played in all four of the Wolves’ Premier League games so far this season, but has found himself on the bench for the last two games after signing the club’s record signing Matheus Nunes of Sporting CP.
As a result, Wolves may be ready to sell the midfielder before deadline day, and all sides are looking to find a deal before time runs out.
Everton boss Frank Lampard is believed to be a huge fan of the 29-time Belgium international, having previously considered a move to him when he was in charge of Chelsea.
Lampard appreciates Dendoncker’s versatility, which would allow him to play in midfield or central defense and is keen to bring him to Goodison Park.

Everton transfer window so far
Unlike many Premier League clubs this summer, Everton have been relatively quiet in the transfer market so far.
Hiring Amadou Onana from Lille was their biggest expense to date, with Dwight McNeil and Neil Maupay arriving from Burnley and Brighton respectively.
James Tarkowski has arrived on a free transfer to provide stability in the center of defense and has played every minute of the Premier League so far.
Lampard has managed to complete the loan moves of Robin Winger and Conor Coady, but is still keen to consolidate before the deadline.
Everton’s sale of Richarlison to Tottenham was their only source of income in the transfer market, with many players leaving on free or on loan.
