The prospect of Jorge Mendes blocking Manchester United’s move for Ajax star Anthony and instead completing a transfer could allow Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the club has been described as “not a complete start”.
A report in Italian media on Monday indicated that the Portuguese agent was trying to block Anthony’s deal with Man United. In turn, he was encouraging the Red Devils to move instead for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
The implication was that by doing so, Napoli would get a huge amount of money and would also need to sign a center attack. Number 9, of course, will be Ronaldo, who has been linked with a potential move to Napoli for more than a month after his desire to leave Manchester United became clear.

Mendes unable to stop Anthony’s deal with Manchester United
However, CBS transfer expert Ben Jacobs believes there is no chance that Mendes will derail Mendes’ €100m deal with the Brazil international, telling Football Transfers that the possibility of that is “not a start”.
“I don’t see in the context of Manchester United, that Mendes has any authority, any ability, any potential to take the club out of the Anthony deal,” he said.
In any case, it has been made clear that Ronaldo is by no means sold on the idea of going to Napoli. Indeed, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner does not want to move to Sporting Lisbon, because he wants to stay in a club that plays in the five major leagues.
Furthermore, Man Utd Osimhen is unlikely to be targeted as an option on closing window days. The reasons for this are simple: the kind of money it takes to sign a player is too much for the club to take into account, while the Nigeria international has already made clear he does not want to leave Serie A. this summer.
Ronaldo, then, appears destined to stay at Manchester United for the time being.
