Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a move to Chelsea earlier in the transfer window, but those reports have been dismissed, however, a surprise move could still happen in the final days of the window.
Early in the transfer window, Ronaldo announced his desire to leave Manchester United so he could spend the final years of his career challenging for titles and playing in Europe’s biggest club competition.
He was rejected by several clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, Sporting and Bayern Munich, due to age, financial reasons or his tactical suitability in those teams.
However, while links with Chelsea have been rejected, a move to Stamford Bridge could once again be on the cards in the closing days of the transfer window.
Jorge Mendes is still in discussion with Chelsea
According to journalist Nicolo Schira, Jorge Mendes has returned to talks with Chelsea to discuss the possibility of Ronaldo moving to Chelsea in the final days of the transfer window.
Mendes had started talks about a potential transfer back in July, when he discussed the matter with new Chelsea owner Todd Boelly after a meeting in Portugal, but the move was rejected at the time.
Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel believed that it would not be suitable for his plans, as a result, the move did not materialize and Ronaldo remained at Manchester United.

Chelsea are still looking for a new striker, having sold Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku this summer, and are understaffed at this position.
They have signed Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, and are still in discussions with Barcelona over the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, hoping to complete the deal before deadline day.
Tuchel would prefer to move to Aubameyang, having shared a good relationship with him at Borussia Dortmund, where the couple worked together between 2015 and 2017.
However, Mendes is still trying to find a deal for Ronaldo, his biggest client, with Chelsea being one of the potential candidates alongside Napoli in Serie A.
