Carlo Ancelotti says he will retire when he leaves Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti said he will retire after leaving Real Madrid.

Ancelotti’s contract with Madrid expires in 2024, although he can still extend it beyond that date.

The 63-year-old has won the Champions League four times as a coach, and is the only coach to win titles in each of Europe’s five major leagues.

He managed 10 teams over his 30-year coaching career, including AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Napoli and Everton, and also won the European Cup twice as a player.

The Madrid team led by Ancelotti is the defending champion, having beaten Liverpool 1-0 in the May final, and the Italian spoke of ending his career “at the top of football”.

Talking to Il MessageroAncelotti said: “This stage at Real Madrid will end my career. After, after Los BlancosI will stop.

“Real Madrid is the pinnacle of football. It makes sense to put an end to that after this experience.”

Real Madrid begins the La Liga season against Almeria on Sunday evening, looking forward to defending its title.
